Terms of Service

The Gaffer is an online football manager game at thegafferfm.com. It is currently operated privately from Norway. It is not operated by a registered company, and there is no organisation number to list here.

If The Gaffer later becomes operated through a registered Norwegian business, this section will be updated with that legal identity.

These Terms of Service govern your use of The Gaffer. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.

Mandatory consumer rights under Norwegian law, and any mandatory rights you have in your country of residence, are not limited by these terms.

The Gaffer is intended for users aged 13 or older. By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 13 years old.

We do not collect date of birth and we do not operate a parental-consent process. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under that age, we may close the account.

The Gaffer is in early beta. Features may change, be paused, or be temporarily unavailable. We may reset, modify, or migrate game data when needed for balance, security, or technical reasons, with notice where practical.

We aim to keep the service available, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. That statement does not take away rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

You retain rights to content you submit (forum posts, club names, feedback). You grant us a licence to host, display, and process that content to operate the game.

The Gaffer name, logos, game systems, art, and code are our intellectual property. You receive a limited, revocable licence to play during the beta.

Clubs, players, currencies, and rankings are part of the game. They have no real-world monetary value and are not transferable outside the game. We may adjust virtual economies for balance.

Losing access to virtual progress because an account is closed, a club is handed to a bot, or the world is rebalanced is not a cash refund, except where mandatory law requires a different result for a paid service.

The Gaffer is currently free to play. There is no Premium subscription, real-money shop, or payment checkout in the service today.

If we later offer paid digital services, we will say so clearly before you pay, including price and what you receive. Paid digital content and digital services would then be covered by mandatory Norwegian and EU consumer rules that apply to those purchases, including remedies if a paid service is not as agreed. This section does not create a paid product now.

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, harm the service, or that we reasonably believe belong to someone below the minimum age.

You may stop using the game at any time. Logged-in managers can delete their account from Settings. You can also write to support@thegafferfm.com.

When you delete your account, your login and personal account data are removed. Your club stays in the shared world as a bot-controlled club so fixtures and tables are not reset. Hall posts remain without your manager name. Personal inbox messages involving your account are removed. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Because this is a live beta world, we may change, pause, or remove features, including for game balance, security, or technical reasons.

Where a change is likely to significantly affect your use of the service, we will give notice where practical — in-game, on the website, or by email. You may stop using the service and delete your account if you do not want to continue after a significant change.

We will not use this section to avoid mandatory consumer protections.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable mandatory law. That includes liability for intent or gross negligence, and other liability that Norwegian consumer law does not allow us to exclude.

To the extent permitted by that mandatory law, we are not liable for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable, or for loss of in-game progress, rankings, or similar virtual items.

If you later pay for a digital service, your mandatory remedies for that paid service still apply.

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the mandatory protections of that country. Please raise disputes first with support@thegafferfm.com.

Norwegian consumers may also seek guidance from Forbrukerrådet (https://www.forbrukerradet.no) or Forbrukertilsynet (https://www.forbrukertilsynet.no).

We may update these terms. The current version will always be on this page, with an updated date.

If a change is material, we will give notice where practical — in-game or by email. If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using the service and delete your account.

Where mandatory consumer law requires a different rule for how contract changes take effect, that rule applies instead of any “continued use” wording.
